The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh (CI) is seeking Full Time/Part Time Pediatric/Adolescent Psychiatrists to work with the Medical and Administrative Directors of Behavioral Health Services to provide comprehensive psychiatric inpatient and outpatient care in a unique and special setting. To also provide leadership and support in the development of inpatient, outpatient and community programs for all patients requiring psychological and psychiatric services at CI; work with allied health professionals, particularly pediatricians, psychiatrists and psychologists.

Provide comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral evaluations of children.
Conduct diagnostic and mental status exams on patients
Communicate findings with attending physicians
Provide direction for outpatient treatment team
Consult with treatment teams on special needs of each patient from a behavioral standpoint
Conduct family diagnostic interviews
Provide supervision for all other members of the behavioral health team whether in-patient or outpatient as it pertains to a specific patient
Work in partnership with pediatricians caring for medically and psychiatrically complex patients.
Provide programmatic support.
Attend weekly inpatient team conferences
Promotes program development, best practice guidelines and outcome metrics for IP and OP psychiatric patients
Completes appropriate documentation in compliance with Med Staff Rules and Regulations
Review of clinical information on potential inpatient admissions to the inpatient unit
Provide programmatic support for Behavioral Medicine Services at CI including psychiatric and psychological services in an integrated approach with physical medicine.
Ensure that prescription refills and telephone consultations are provided when necessary.
Communicate and consult with regional and national pediatric psychiatric associations and other professional organizations related to state of the art and evidence based pediatric psychiatric care.
Provide contracted services for The Children’s Institute as approved by the Senior Medical Director.
Potential involvement in the following as tailored to the individual physician’s level of interest and breadth of expertise: in-patient psychiatric services, outpatient psychiatric services, in-patient psychiatric, consultation, tele-psychiatry services.
Medical degree required. Current Pennsylvania medical license.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Board Certified.Minimum 5 years experience working inpatient with children and/or adolescents with behavioral disorders. Demonstrates expertise in use of psychotropic drugs.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team setting and manage an interdisciplinary team.
Fluency in understanding, speaking and writing English required.
