The Chief Psychiatrist, JTDC leads Psychiatrists and/or Advance Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC). The Chief Psychiatrist, JTDC has an administrative reporting relationship to the Juvenile Justice Behavioral Health Director and works in partnership with the Juvenile Justice Behavioral Health Director and the Chief Psychologist, JTDC, to direct the delivery of a comprehensive mental health continuum of care including inpatient, residential and outpatient psychiatric care for youth and adolescents, in collaboration with a team of motivated mental health professionals. The Chief Psychiatrist, JTDC has an indirect report to the Director of Psychiatry Services for Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS) with regard to clinical supervision.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical college or university is required.
Completion of an approved internship and residency in Psychiatry is required. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, required. (Must provide proof at time of interview).
Must be board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, required. (Must provide proof at time of interview).
Current and valid Illinois Controlled Substances license or have the ability to obtain license prior to starting employment is required. (If already obtained, must provide proof at time of interview)
Current and valid licensure with the Federal DEA or eligible to obtain licensure prior to starting employment is required . (If already obtained, must provide proof at time of interview).
Current federal and State of Illinois DEA license or have the ability to obtain prior to starting employment is required. (If already obtained, must provide proof at time of interview).
Prior experience in the provision of direct patient care services to youth and/or adolescent populations is required.
Experience within a correctional or forensic environment is ideal with Board Subspecialty in Forensic Psychiatry, preferred.
Administrative experience in supervision of other psychiatrists, treatment teams and/or other providers is preferred.
Practice within a public environment such as city, county or state government is preferred.
