Job Duties
Geisinger Health System is seeking a full-time, licensed clinical psychologist for our Women's Health integration and provide direct patient care, develop and scale clinical programs, and supervise clinical psychology and social work post-graduate learners on specialized rotations. Eligible candidates will have graduated from an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and completed internship and postdoctoral fellowship training with a focus on clinical health psychology or integrated behavioral health. Women's health specialty training and experience is strongly preferred. Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible in Pennsylvania.
Based on an integrated care model, the embedded psychologist will provide assessment, consultation and short-term, targeted interventions to a wide variety of patients with gynecologic and reproductive concerns. With offices within the Women's Health Pavilion of Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania and telemedicine access to patients throughout the health system, the women's health psychologist will be readily available for inpatient and outpatient warm hand-off consultations. Medical specialties within Women's Health include OB, Gyn, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, and Gynecological Oncology. Inpatient services include Labor and Delivery and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
Women's behavioral health clinical services typically focus on antenatal and post-partum anxiety and depression, issues with infertility, interfering health behaviors, adjustment to major life transitions (childbirth, menopause), traumatic childbirth and perinatal loss, insomnia and sexual dysfunction, among other women's behavioral health concerns. Labor and Delivery Service consultations are typically for patients experiencing lengthy hospital stays due to pregnancy complications (e.g., premature rupture of membranes, preeclampsia) to provide stress and anxiety management strategies and for patients with unexpected traumatic childbirth experiences, assessing for acute stress disorder and providing psychoeducation about normal responses to trauma.
