Overview of Available Opportunities:
Substance Use Disorders Clinic (SUD): The Marriage & Family Therapist is to deliver evidence-based services for patients with substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors as well as co-occurring mental health problems such as mood disorders and trauma. Primary clinical responsibilities include conducting brief program screenings and more comprehensive mental health assessments and providing individual and group psychotherapy. There are opportunities to work with couples and families, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork. Communicating and consulting effectively with other members of the SUD team and providers across the medical center is crucial. Prior SUD training and experience with a highly diverse Veteran population are preferred.

CBT for Psychosis (CBTp) Clinic: The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Psychosis Clinic is an adjunctive outpatient treatment program that provides evidence-based psychotherapy for Veterans diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or mood disorders with psychotic features. The CBTp Clinic has a robust training program where we teach evidence-based practices for psychosis across disciplines. The Marriage & Family Therapist is responsible for coordinating and providing specialty SMI counseling, family counseling, conducting assessment interviews, developing treatment plans, and providing treatment to eligible Veterans. This position delivers services based on the recovery model. Treatment modalities may include family consultation, crisis intervention, intake evaluations, outreach services, and empirically based treatment for SMI and co-occurring mental health conditions. The selectee will work in a trans-disciplinary team setting with psychologists, social workers, nurses, psychiatrists, and/or peer support specialists; clients may be referred to other programs and professionals as appropriate. Participating in, providing consultation to other team members, being involved in training, and participating in conjoint emergency treatment with medical facility mental health personnel are all elements of this position. In addition to the described functions, the clinician provides patients with elements of care coordination, case management, and other ancillary functions to offer professional treatment and team-based services as assigned.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Center (PRRC): Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Center (PRRC): The Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) serves as a member of the PRRC program in the Mental Health Service Line of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLAHS). The MFT assigned to this team coordinates and provides specialty mental health counseling. Treatment modalities may include crisis intervention, intake evaluations, outreach services, and empirically based treatment for various mental health conditions. The Marriage & Health Therapist conducts assessment interviews, develops treatment plans, and provides therapy to eligible Veterans; this mental health professional will work in a trans-disciplinary team setting with psychiatry, social workers, nurses, and peer support specialists. Team members deliver services based on the recovery model, and patients receive ongoing mental health assessment, intervention, and education in a supportive, patient-centered, and recovery-oriented environment. Clients may be referred to other programs and professionals as appropriate. Participating in joint emergency treatment with medical facility mental health personnel, providing consultation to other team members, completing data collection/analysis, program evaluation, and development to enhance patient outcomes and participation. Primary goals in PRRC include assisting Veterans in reaching self-identified recovery goals, improving socialization, and increasing community integration. Required experience includes knowledge and experience working within an integrated mental health care team and clinical training in the assessment and treatment of severe mental illnesses, including but not limited to major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnoses.

Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Education Requirements:
Hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a program approved by COAMFTE,
Hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a MFT program from a regionally accredited institution, OR,
Hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree in a comparable mental health degree (Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology, and Psychiatry) that meets the current VA qualification standard of that profession.
Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license MFT license to independently practice marriage and family therapy in any state
Experience with a diverse population preferred.
Work Schedule: M-F | 8:00am – 4:30pm
Salary Range: $66,134 - $104,016 (Salary is based on licensure status and qualified experience).
